After going through this extensive project, with many deadlines to meet, dealing with every member in the team, carrying out effective communication and displaying high levels of skills needed to make this project a success, there are some of the final reflections that are important to be addressed. Some of the overall project reflections are provided in points below:
- A website for exploring Tonsley Park through just a matter of any mobile device that can support running a website is an innovative step that takes us away from relying on the outdated proposed maps of the place. It facilitates the users to keep them updated with the latest map changings, new buildings in the area and many other details that the site map would be incapable to update according to the changing times. The major innovation that this website offers is speed and simplicity to its audience.
- From the beginning of this project, whenever we faced any problem regarding a certain task or team members disagreeing with each other, we have always solved them through open communication and extensive brainstorming. It is important to address everyone’s opinions; otherwise it is possible that a good enough project awaits failure in the future. from the beginning we have used two important techniques during all our discussions, which are: constructive controversy and inductive reasoning. Devil’s advocate approach tends to observe failure points before when it is too late. Collaboration helped a lot in solving most of our problems.
- Some of the team members were given the task to analyze the Tonsley Park and detect any type of requisite or support required in that extensive project. The concept of exploring the Tonsley Park itself came through this very research. We found some gaps and tried to structure our own project to cater and fill all the founded gaps.
- Since we were given a pretty flexible environment to work as per all the individuals in the team, each team member had enough liberty to practice their own creative ideas in their respected tasks. Deadlines had been addressed and tasks were assigned. Now all we needed to play with our understandings to the project.
- This project pushed our boundaries to come up with brilliant new ideas of dealing with situations and creative thinking processes. Open communications and regular discussions on everyone’s contributions to the project helped a lot in engaging new ideas into the whole system. Every person was allowed to be scrutinized on his/her part and improvements were encouraged.
- This experience helped every individual to display their communication skills. In many ways, it has not only been a demonstration to our skills, but also a development of better quality as well. Addressing every problem, making the concept clear to the audience and refining it in every step of the way till it was clear as water, a great improvement has been experienced. In project management, there is always room for better communication skills than before. After going through every step of this project, demonstration of our present skills as well as an improvement to our previous skills has been experienced.
- Since all of us had been working on this project since the beginning of this semester, it had been understood that if we want to make his project a success, we had to develop good team building skills. With better collaboration and connected team, we were able to work smoothly and with better ease. At some point, we did have some clashes among us, it was the time when we learned how to develop better team building skills than before.
- Since every individual was given his/her own task area, so each member was able to demonstrate their leadership qualities of their own. Obviously, one of us was able to demonstrate better than others overall in the project. It was that time when some of the members were able to develop better initiative skills than others. This project greatly helped every individual to perform and demonstrate the skills according to what they already had and the extent to how they could develop even more.
- Through Gantt chart and other techniques, we were able to make our own toolbox consisting of various project management techniques which are not only useful in this project, but also will be worthwhile in the future as well.
