Home Project Management Project Initiation Phase Robot Handling System for E-Commerce Industries

Robot Handling System for E-Commerce Industries

Project Charter

Purpose of the project

The purpose of the project is to address the e-commerce companies concerns regarding order management. E-commerce companies are continually under pressure to reduce the cost for delivering products hence with this project automation via robotics it will be ensured that project would significantly improve productivity and reduce cost for inventory management.

Project Organization

Project Sponsor. The sponsor for this project is the Vice President technology Brain Norton since he wants to research and develop a robotic system that can effectively address the situation for e-commerce industries providing them with enough leverage to tackle cost and meet the competition.

Project Manager. Brain Adams will be acting as the project manager since he has managed many research and development projects and is effective in solving creative problems.

Project Stakeholders

Project Requirements

The project will be requiring a floor plan along alongside an effective control system linked up with network. To make the process more effective and productive the project will require producing mobile robotic systems and chargers with pod selection, furthermore select a pick station and effectively replenish records.  To automate the process installing conveyer belt is an effective option.

Standards- Project Charter

Item NameStandards
Conveyors and EquipmentProject will procure and install 24V Powered Roller Conveyor
Project will procure and install 24V Powered Spirals
Project will procure and install 24V Pallet Conveyor
Implement fully automated Tray Sleeving Systems
Develop and Test Full Line of ABB Robots
Control SystemsImplement Material Handling Control Systems at six sigma efficiency level
Continuously Improve Graphic Interface Software
Scan, Weigh and Label Systems will uphold zero defect policy
Support StandardsPerform prototyping and simulation modelling for problem
Conduct Training with high after training test results
ComplianceCompliance will be accepted at 5% standard deviation from stated.
QA & QCQuarterly Audits, Testing, and Inspection

The standards are embedded on the rationale of no waste policy and the project will be following six-sigma methodology to ensure all wastes are controlled and the project is further improved to gain the desired outcome. Quality Assurance and Quality Control will be effectively applied to the project to ensure compliance. The standards are measured within a range defined as specification limit. The outputs complying with the standards will be accepted and other will be rejected or re-configured to meet the standard. Strong quality assurance culture will ensure that the product is produced right the very first time and there is no waste.

Risk Analysis

Risk NameDescriptionStageRisk AssessmentResponse
ProbabilityImpactPriority
Scope ChangeProject Sponsor changes the scope significantly and want to enforce changes without complete assessmentAny.4.9.36Mitigation: Evaluate impact on triple constraints and only accept when specific adjustments to triple constraints are honoured
Technology goes ObsoleteThe technology in robotics develop fast and if a new technology comes in market after procurement of existingExecution.5.6.30Mitigation, Contract will be done with vendor making him responsible for delivering latest content. If technology changes then vendor will swap the items at nominal rates.
HR is SickPersonnel at point of duty goes sick and risk project delay. Any.8.6.48Mitigation, Keep Backup personnel.
Procurement DelaysProcured items are delayed then scheduled dateExecution.9.8.72Mitigation, Strong contracts to penalise the service provider for every day delayed.
System Hardware and Software not CompatibleHardware and software does not integrate together after installationExecution.5.9.45Pre technical feasibility and hardware and software compatibility tests would be scheduled for better results.
